It's over 9000

Yep, the last build was over 9000, it was 9014. Some nice things added, HotR got buffed from three times the weapon DPS to four times the DPS:

Old:

HotR dmg = DPS * 3

New:

HotR dmg = DPS * 4

A very solid buffthat makes up for the ShoR nerf. Now the tanking weapons dominate the SP weapons. Esactly like Warriors. We choose between Threat (DPS wpn) and Mitigation (Tanking wpn). But I don't think we need to use a Threat weapon, our threat is already insane.

Nerf Varien

Bolvar and Saurfang Jr. seemed pretty friendly during the fight, doing the whole "Legolas and Gimli" thing. Heck, they acted like they'd been campaigning together for years. And Bolvar looked really pissed when Arthas killed Saurfang Jr.

But now, Varien's going to waste time and resources attacking the Horde again. Most likely Kil'jaeden's plan from the beginning. He sacrificed Varimathras just like he did Mal'ganis. Maybe Varien will get a nice new sword for the War from a mysterious benefactor too?

Of course, that's if any of the other faction leaders listen to him, he's a bit out of touch. He goes on with his "I was a slave gladiator to the Horde" rant, oblivious to the fact that Thrall had to deal with that since he was like 5yrs old. And he did have a master who healed his wounds like Rehgar Earthfury. No, Thrall got Blackmoore with his "Good, you won the match. I'll only beat you into the ground once today! Aren't you happy!".

Entire Battle for the Undercity quest, in the end the SW king storms in and try to attack the Horde, but Jaina stop the madness and teleport the king and his bodyguard back to SW. That makes be think about Jaina, she will play a big part in the Wotlk lore. Jaina, Tirion, Varien, Thrall. Big roles indeed.

Caravan Mammoth is ftw

For 15 000 gold you will get:

*Mount that can carry 3 other players
*Mailbox
*Vendor

All in one mount, this is pretty nice, I think I will get one of those.

We are cleaving Arthas' heart!

WTF?

New nice items

S2 > T6

This diagram is made by Scotthew on Maintankadin.

As you can see, the S2 Slicer ranks higher than Tempest of Chaos from Archimonde, pretty nice, but stupid imo. But I won't complain, I own the Slicer but not the Archie sword.

Holy crap!

Give me this mount, looks uber!

Update to ShoR

Shield of Righteousness was going to scale way too well as a multiplier on block value. We already saw cases where it was 40% or more of paladin dps with very few hits. I'm not sure if you got the entire change in with the hotfix, but it's now 100% of block with a flat component and two ranks. See how it feels in the next beta build.

This looks good. Adding a flat damage + 100% of the Block Value. Much like Warriors. I suspected they would be doing something like this after they nerfed it from 240% -> 100% of the BV.

So its two ranks then. I hope that it's one rank at 65 and rank 2 on level 75. Would be very nice!

Hug shield is huge

I like huge shields. I always wanted the Illidan one, but I guess I have to live with this.

This is a interesting weapon, I might get it.

Last Laugh

A pretty cool weapon, it's not unique or mainhand, so maybe DK's should DW those when they tank. Anyway, this axe combined with the shield is pure win. The name is also nice. I have the last laugh when I ninja it from our Warriors.

I know what our 11p will be

Last Stand.

How do I know this? Do I have connections with Blizz? Do I sleep with Kalgan? No. As we know, Hammer of justice just got a interrupt added, this was also given to Druid's, exactly the same, just that they have it in their Bash.

Now. Druid's got a Last Stand in the latest push, that is why we also will get one. 1 copper on that.

Protection -- We want more tanks in the game. Main tanks. We think it's fun to have a diversity of players and see how different spells, abilities and class mechanics get used to solve problems. A Protadin with the right skill and gear should be able to tank any fight in the game. Previously, we tried to push Prot into the offtank and AE tank roles. While your abilities are still really well suited for AE in particular, overall our philosophy has changed and we want you to be able to do anything the other tanks do. Note that this means other tanks will get better at AE tanking though. Prot represents a special challenge when not tanking because you can both heal and do dps and some players want to do either. Or both. One final comment, that you have already seen, is we want you to gear like a warrior: collect Strengh and Stam and use tanking weapons instead of caster weapons.

Retribution -- You're a melee dps class, and one of only a handful of classes that can fill the "mana battery" role. With the changes to the way raid buffs work, we are blurring the lines a lot more between "pure" dps classes and hybrids that have the potential to respec if their dps doesn't work out. But we don't penalize classes for having awesome buffs the way we used to. Also remember that one of Ret's big limitations before was just getting in the group with the good melee buffs. That problem is solved. If you're good and know your stuff cold, you should be able to be up there with the rogues and hunters. Maybe not every fight, but not 500 dps below them either.

Holy -- You're still the best high-throughput, single target healer in the game. I suspect you're still going to get called on to heal the tank a lot. Holy was in a really good place in BC, so much so that other healers (probably priests more than anyone else) began to get overshadowed. To shift things back a little, as well to just challenge the player base, we introduced a lot more fights with AE damage and movement. Unfortunately, those mechanics hit Holy. Hard. At the same time, CoH and CH seemed to be able to handle any encounter. Beacon of Light isn't a panacea to solve all of those problems, but it is designed to help. It still needs a little work, but I think the basic spell design is sound.

Tanks nerfed

ShoR nerfed to 100% (the tooltip hasn't changed yet)

Bear AP talent nerfed from 60% to 6%

Devastate nerfed from 80% to 50%

DKs are already doing shitty damage

Looks like they're using the "baked in salv" to completely backpedal and destroy the whole "tanks do more damage" thing

fredag 19 september 2008

FUCK YEAH! We got a interrupt!

So BLOODY NICE, thanks Blizzard!

http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.html?topicId=9956668989&pageNo=1&sid=2000#7

We did add the interrupt to Hammer of Justice. This was done solely so that Protection paladins wouldn't feel like they couldn't tank mobs that needed to be interrupted but were stun immune. We just think that interrupt capability crosses over the line into something that a tank needs to do his job.

And also this nice shield.

Behold!! Shield of Righteousness

This just reminds me of a miniature version of the shield Blazer throws at Arthas in tales of the past 3. Something I always wanted.

Threat information

Apparently, with Righteous fury active we are getting a threat bonus to compensate for lack of salvation "baked in". What this means is that all our threat is multiplied by 1.43 *in addition* to the 1.9 multiplier for holy damage. Even non-holy damage gets the 1.43 multiplier, so that helps if you decide to go with a high white damage weapon instead of a spell power weapon.

Repelling Charge is the new Shadowmoon Insignia
Valor Medal of the First War is the new Pocketwatch.

I know how the new HotR work!

HotR damage = DPS x 3

Because it does 3 times DPS, it would essentially do Weapon damage if your weapon speed was 3. Since it used to do 120% weapon damage, this would be a nerf, at weapon speed 3.

It should be a buff.

Its a buff... It encourages us to use the tanking weapons available at 1.6 speed. 1.5 would be Weapon damage x2, essentially, which is a buff from before. At one tenth of a second slower, a 1.6 weapon would be a significantly more powerful weapon for HotR than it was pre-patch.

Set bonuses on gear

Protection
(2) Set: Increases the damage dealt by your Hammer of the Righteous by 10%.
(4) Set: Increases the duration of your Divine Shield and Divine Protection by 3 seconds.
Retribution
(2) Set: Increases the damage dealt by your Divine Storm by 10%.
(4) Set: Reduces the cooldown of your Judgment of Light, Judgment of Wisdom, and Judgment of Justice by 1 second.
Holy
(2) Set: Your Holy Shock gains an additional 10% chance to critically strike.
(4) Set: The cost of your Holy Light is reduced by 5%.
I approve the protection set bonus.

Anyway, here is some nice loot as I use to link. First is a Frost Resistance set, I guess there will be a Frost boss. However, doesn't seem that tank-ish, no defense and no threat stats, only Stamina and Frost Resistance.

The other one is some shoulder enchants, much like the Aldor/Scryer ones.

New build

  • Hammer of the Righteous (Tier 11) changed to - Hammer the current target and up to 2 additional nearby targets, causing 3 times your main hand damage per second as Holy damage.
  • Improved Devotion Aura (Tier 4) now increases the amount healed to the target by 2/4/6%. (Old - 1/2/3%)
  • Toughness (Tier 3) reduces movement impairing effect duration by 6/12/18/24/30%. (Old - 10/20/30/40/50%)

I have NO IDEA what the Hammer of the Righteous change is about. Sounds strange. Now it does 120% of weapon damage. 3 times should be 300% I guess it's a buff, but you never know with Blizzard.

Another nice change is Glyph of Spiritual Attunement - Increases the amount of mana gained from your Spiritual Attunement spell by an additional 2%. It sound pretty nice, not that I have mana problems when tanking, but it can be nice to have anyway.

However it look like they are nerfing Warriors now. I wonder if they decided they couldn't buff the other tanking classes enough to equal a warrior so they did that instead? If they don't change the base Thunder Clap damage (or scaling), then Thunder Clap damage just took a nerf, from 120% increased damage from talents to 30% increased damage from talents.

Bros before hoes

Anyone remember the Obama / Clinton campaign where the Obama fans stated "Bros before hoes"? Now we have it in WoW aswell. I also present you to . . . the Blood Knight warhorse, must be some bug that let me summon it. But hey, it's pretty cool!

Here is also some nice screens. The first one is when I train a Fel Reaver to Shattrath. You might wonder how I could have done over 400k damage on it. Well, you know the quest you do in the beginning? Where you fly from a island and bomb some cannons and such near Throne of Kil'Jadean? I took one of those. They have over 900k health. I didn't intend to kite it first, so I took down atleast 50% of the HP in Hellfire Peninsula, then I thought it was boring and decided to take it on a walk. Note the whisper aswell ;)

I have one more picture to show you. In the live version Paladins run OOM very quickly when they outgear the content they are running. They won't in 3.0. Blessing of Sanc (Return 2% total mana on dodge/parry/block) is awesome. I tried it out in SP and SV, I never ran OOM. Awesome. I use to go OOM on bosses, but no. Here is a screenshot from the first boss that doesn't hit for anything. This is the level I had durign the fight. Sure, we had a Retridin, but 0.5% of total mana each second doesn't cut it.

BoSanc restored around 75 000 mana for me during the whole run, Replenishment (Ret pala) only gave me ~6000 mana. Big difference here.

Nerf this DPS

As you can see, I'm topping in both instances.

Embarasing misstake

Recently on the PTR I ran half SP Heroic without the RF. Well, I did wonder why some guys got close to me on threat, but I never really lost aggro if they didn't attack a target that I didn't judged. Amazing how much threat we can do, since on of the main DPSers was a SWP Warrior that DWed the sword from Archie and the S4 2h Sword. Amazing how much threat Paladins can do now.

I post some pictures in the next post, I did some really hot damage. I think I topped the damage meter in both SP and SV.

Glyphs of my choice

Glyph of Avenger's Shield
Glyph of Judgement
Glyph of Righteous Defense

I hope I can get a crafter for those. Tested the Judgement on the PTR, 10% more damage is huge.

Fel Reaver

I wanted to try Prot out, so I pulled a Reaver, those with 900k hp from the lvl 61 bombing quest, and pulled it to Shattrath. Gosh. I was at 100% hp and 100% mana all the time thansk to teh new Blessing of Sanc and Seal of Light which restored 403 HP on almost every hit.

Nerf Ret

Here is a graph of 3.6 minutes DPSing on a boss dummy (lvl 73 with lots of armor). I had no buffs, well, BoM is selfbuff and MotW doesn't add that much. But the point is I had no Sunder on it, no totems and such things. The moves I used is Divine Storm (Very cool gpx), Crusader Strike and Judgement of Wisdom with Seal of Vengeance up. I had a prio on them, first Judgement, then Divine Storm and last Crusader Strike. As you can see Judgement deal retarded amounts of damage. Every Judgement critted for over 2.5k. I almost had a 90% crit on those.

The creepy thing is that my gear suck. It's blue gems, not hitcapped and I don't have any enchant on it. Also wear a blue ring and a blue head. I can't imagine what the DPS would be in a raid, fully buffed with a WF totem. The thing is that we never go OOM if using only the spells I used. You get about 850 mana each time you judge, but also 0.5% of the mana back every second.

Now the mana doesn't come in huge ticks. It come all the time. If you mouseover the manabar you see that it comstantly refill. I have a movie when I DPS on one of those dummys. If I ca nfind a place to upload it on I will show you.

A good talent for ret (Since they never go OOM now) is Art of War. What is does is thta it make the FoL instant every time you crit, and belive me, you crit alot. The FoL heal for about 1.2-1.5k depending on your attack power. A very good self heal in raids.

Below you can see my stats when I tested this. Sheath of Light add 30% of the Attack Power as Spellpower, that is why I had over 600 Spellpower.

Done some testing

Ok. I got a Recount from Retri, it's very very good. I can do over 1000 DPS, selfbuffed with three abilities and never go OOM. I can even cast instant FoL when I crit thanks to Art of War. The good thing is that I have over 600 Spellpower thanks to Sheath. My mana regen quicker than I can blink. Very nice. Retri will be very nice with group buffs aswell.

Prot. I have over 600 Spellpower if I haev my Hyjal mace, and I didn't loose that much defense, I'm still above uncrittable. I have about 400 if I go with a Avoidence/DPS Weapon. I havn't tested the threat, but I will do it now.

Later today when I come home from school I'll post some Recount logs.

Ret Paladins are OP

Just got Andox over and tested a Retri specc with my pretty crappy gear (badge, ZA gear). Holy shit! I owned so hard. I never went OOM, I could battle the Boss Dummy for like 10 minutes and stil have a full mana bar. I must get Recount to see how high DPS I got.

WotLK to be released on November 13 2008

I need 100k HK's

Actually, we moved the "of the Horde" and "of the Alliance" titles to 100K HK's.

The new reward for "For the Horde" and "For the Alliance" is a Black War Bear.

This was what Tigole said, a Black War Bear would be very nice to have! Just to start the leeching *cough* I mean killing.

PTR lags as hell

Just came off the PTR, havn't got my main over yet, so I rolled a low level Paladin. Okey, I start here, new things on the PTR:

*Shadows. Very very cool, but you need a good computer to use this. What it do is to turn on shadows for your own character, the mobs, other players, buildings and trees. Very nice, if you played with this once you can't turn it off.

*Achivements. Also very nice. There is a Achivement for almost everything. Some cool Achivements are those: use the command /love to every type of critters in Azeroth and one of my favourites, eat candy, pie and ice-cream infront of your Orphan during the Children Week.

*Statistics. Some of us use a addon called "Historian", let you keep track of things you do, how much money you had on peak, mobs you killed, how many times you died and things like that. Now Blizzard makes a tab on the Achivement UI for this. For example how many times you use the command "/facepalm" to other cool things. There is also the highest crit you got, the highest hit you taken from a raidboss aswell as how many times you Hearthstoned.

*SW Harbor. My new favourite area. This is so cool. Between The Park and Cathedral of Light this uber harbor is located. It's huge. There isn't that many NPC's in it right now, but I do belive that they will add some later on. I heard that they had alot of NPC's in the Wotlk beta, so maybe they add that when Wotlk is released. I feel bad for the Horde, Blizzard just duplicated their Zeppelin tower, no new model, nothing. While we got a hugenew area to play around in.

Logon screen of awesomeness

Wow, jsut got the 3.0 PTR client down. The logon screen is so nice with the Frostwyrm flying around!

    3.0 is almost here

Downloading the patch ftw. I suspect it being 2 - 3 GB large, that is the size of the Wotlk beta patch. I think that Blizz will put alot of models to our WoW and hopefully some Northrend shit, so we don't have to wait that long when it is released.

    Tankadin talent breakdown

I found this on ze interwebz.

1H spec -- simple, 10% threat boost, 2% per talent point
    HotR -- also easy, .0765/(1-.0765) = 8.3% boost for 1 point
Seals of the Pure -- 3.3% threat boost, .67% per talent point
Reck -- 1.1% threat boost (white damage only), .37% per talent point
Redoubt -- 6.6% threat boost, 2.2% per point.
Shield of the Templar -- 7.4% threat boost, 2.46% per point.
Imp Ret Aura -- 1.1% threat boost, .55% per talent point
Imp Judgment (assuming no cooldown conflicts) -- 2.2% increase, 1.1% per point

    Valor shoulders

Wow, the 10% extra XP bonus will be very nice when leveling that DK alt.

    Airships in Ice Crown

So, this zone is crowded with undead, so you have to use your epic flyer to be able to quest here. It's impossible to use your landmount, you will get owned in like 5 seconds by the mobs. Thats why even the questhubs are flying, airships ftw!

    Warriors, come out and play!

Notice the "Overkill" in the combat log. Anyway, this is done on level 75 with 1759 BV. Will be so much fun trying this spell out!

    Woot, 3.0 is coming

The next major content patch is coming, and it's big. In order to smooth the way, we will shortly enable background downloading of most of the data for this patch. People who use the Launcher and have background downloading enabled will automatically start getting the data. The Downloader downloads faster in general now, so you may want to adjust your background download settings. You can adjust these settings in the Laucher, by visiting the Options page. If you want the fastest possible download, check the "Don't throttle background download". However, note that this can affect the performance of other programs running at the same time.

Will be nice, maybe 2 - 3 weeks, and then we'll have the harbour, inscription and new talents ;)

    Nerf this

    This is SPARTA!

So... 240% block value base damage on Shield of Righteousness, plus 30% from Shield of the Templar, plus 10% from One-Handed Weapon Specialization? There is only one word for that. Spartan.

    Arthas: This is Ice Crown!
    Andox: This, is, SPARTA!!!!!!!!!!!!

New good loot, for tanking and casters

This shield looks hot - literary. I wonder if I can use it as a portable forge, like the Engineers can create portable vendors, Banks and Mailboxes. Anywya, please notice the Itemlevel. That is 25 man stuff.

    Account shared items

    • These items are Bind To Account items, you can transfer them between characters !
    • These items scale with level, a level 1 character can perfectly use it and stats will scale accordingly !
    • In the current beta build, you can buy them with tokens from raid dungeons
    • Shoulders will also increase your experience gain from killing monster by 10%
    • They are not unique.

You can get a ARCANITE REAPER HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

    Lost my PW

Puh, that was close. I forgot the password adn the reset UI didn't work. Close call.

    Sunwell Radiance is turned off

When 3.0 hit, the Sunwell Radiance is turned off. It's confirmed by a blue.

In the patch where all your tanking gear changes, Sunwell Radiance is also being turned off.

New ugly faces in Wotlk beta

    Glyph of Vengeance is uber

If this stays 10 Expertise it is incredible.

    5 Expertise Human/Dwarf
    6 Expertise from Combat Expertise
    10 Expertise from Glyphe

21 Expertise = -5,25% Dodge -5,25% Parry. Wow. T7 (Def) has some Expertise on it. So you don't need to socket / enchant expertise ever.

    Epic quotes

    Very useful feedback:
"Hey, we did some math here and based on talents, gear and what we know about gems and enchants, it looks like paladins can't be uncrittable by Naxx. Is this intended?"

    Less useful feedback:
"Warrior mitigation has been better than paladin mitigation for the last 4 patches. Why doesn't Blizzard fix that? I'm starting to think they won't."

    Not terribly useful feedback:
"Because paladins can't be uncrittable by Naxx, it's clear Blizzard has no design for the class and doesn't understand how paladins work. We'll never get to tank anything. Meanwhile, warriors have the most awesome ability that we are denied out of spite."

Ghostcrawler fills the coffee mug with gin:
"I've waited for 16 months for a blue response to my demand for an explanation of why paladins don't work the way I think they should. And yet on my 35-page dissertation on why this one quest in Eastern Plaguelands would be so easy for my class if you made all of the 28 changes I require, and which I bump every day for great justice, I finally got a blue poster who made a poor attempt at humor and it Greatly Offended me. Now I'm going to troll and reroll because if I'm miserable I want everyone else to be too."

I think that the last one was aimed to the Paladin who created his own threat with lot of "good" feedback from his PoV, well, for us experienced Tankadins it was just pure crap.

    Stacking BV is great

Just the beginging thou, he is level 78

    Godly talents

Blizz just finalized the Ptorection tree revamp, omgomg it's uber now.

    • Divine Plea changed so that you gain 25% of your total mana over 10 sec, but the amount healed by your spells is reduced by 50%
    • Shield of Righteousness now deals holy damage equal to 240% of your block value. (Up from 200%)
    • Righteous Defense is now a 10 sec cooldown.
    • Hammer of the Righteous (Tier 11) now causes 120% weapon damage as holy damage, but no longer "causes a high amount of threat".
    • Shield of the Templar (Tier 10) changed to increase the damage of your Holy Shield, Avenger's Shield and Shield of Righteousness spells by 10/20/30%.
    • Avenger's Shield (Tier 9) now deals more damage and is instant cast. (All ranks)
    • Guarded by the Light (Tier 9) now reduces spell damage taken by 3/6% and reduces the mana cost of your Holy Shield, Avenger's Shield and Shield of Righteousness spells by 15/30%.
    • Divine Plea changed so that you gain 25% of your total mana over 10 sec, but the amount healed by your spells is reduced by 50%
    • Combat Expertise (Tier 8 ) changed to 3 ranks, increases your expertise by 2/4/6, and total Stamina and chance to critically hit by 2/4/6%
    • Holy Shield (Tier 7) now has 8 charges, but no longer causes additional threat.
    • One-Handed Weapon Specialization (Tier 6) now increases damage you deal with one handed weapons by 2/4/6/8/10%.
    • Spell Warding removed from the talent tree.
    • Reckoning can now proc off a blocked attack.
    • Blessing of Kings moved to Tier 1. It now increases all stats by 2%. (Previously 10%)
    • Improved Blessing of Kings is a new Tier 1 talent that increases the effectiveness of Blessing of Kings by an additional 2/4/6/8%.
    • Shield Specialization removed from the talent tree.
    • Redoubt moved from Tier 3 to Tier 8. It now increases your block value by 10/20/30% and damaging melee and ranged attacks against you have a 10/20/30% chance to increase your chance to block by 10%. Lasts 10 sec or 5 blocks.
    • Anticipation moved from Tier 1 to Tier 2.
Our Shield Slam now deals 240% of the BV instead of 200%, untalented, talented it deals like 270% of the BV, now that is imba, eat that Warriors. They also put Kings in the top of the tree so the Holy and Retridinscould access it so we Tankadins can buff with Sanc instead. Merged Redoubt and Shield Spec, a very needed change!

Well, they somewhat nerfed our stamina scaling (16.6% > 10%) but it was needed, it would scale to a insane level when we got T8 and above. Guaded by the Light also add a 6% mitigation to spells, much welcome. A instant Avenger's Shield is also nice for more burst on bosses.

But most imba is the new Divine Plea. It now work like Bloodrage. It's on a 1 min cooldown and restore 25% of the total mana over 10 seconds. But during that it also decrease the amount healed by 50%, but who cares?

    With all those new talentchanges it's been easy to pick a build. The protectiontreee almost looks naked now. I think I'll go with this build. Anyway, I forgot to mention a imba Glyph for tanking, so here it comes;

Glyph of Seal of Vengeance - Your Seal of Vengeance or Seal of Corruption also grants 10 expertise while active.

    Nice shield

The acctual shield is ok but those swords attached to it make it look like you stole it from above some chimney. They should take them off.

However, when has practicality played in to armor design decision? We've had books on our shoulders, birds on our shoulders, floating crystals on EVERYTHING, mailboxes on our heads, and shields with beating hearts glued to the front. Considering the context, I think some swords stuck in our shield doesn't seem all that extreme.

    Say hello to Arthas

Both Arthas and the Lich King. If you played you know where arthas found Frostmourne, no need for a explanation. Anyway, in the cave, you will see the event again. The Lich King will also appear sometimes during the lvl grind. Huge king is huge.
